Fine Print

I try to be pretty up front with people about everything in my life, and this blog is no exception. If anything, it's a prime example of it. So, that being said, a disclaimer:

As I find myself putting more time and energy into my writing, I want to find out whether it's a viable income source. So just to start, I'm going to begin experimenting with monetizing this blog. While I don't expect to make my millions this way, I do want you to at least have the opportunity to know what's going on behind the scenes, so I'll update this section as I try different models.

For now, I'm participating in the Amazon.com Associates program. Essentially, if I link to a product on Amazon, and then you click through and buy that product, I get a small commission. I hope that if you find a product via my blog and decide to buy it, you'll do so through the link I provide (there's no other way for me to get paid, but no hard feelings if you choose to purchase another way). All the products I link to will be items I have some sort of experience with (books I've read, kitchen gadgets I've used, music I've listened to, etc.), and they will be things I've purchased myself or received as gifts from friends or family. If I ever receive a complimentary product to test or review, I will be explicit about that. Like I said, I want to be as transparent as possible here.

I'm looking into including advertisements on the blog as well, but haven't decided one way or another about that yet. I'm not terribly fond of them when I see them on other people's blogs, so I don't imagine any of my readers would be either. Once I make a decision one way or another, I'll update this area.

I'm open to feedback on this, especially if you have strong feelings about it one way or another.
